McDonnel Douglas DC10-30 PH-DTF "Guiseppe Verdi"
DC10-30 metal scale 1:200 by Verkuyl ca 1976
Finally after a very long search I found this precious model! My life as an airline pilot started with KLM on the DC10 back in 1988. I was a cruise relief pilot, upgraded to copilot in 1990.KLM owned ten DC10's but only operated six of them. The rest was leased out to PAL or VIASA.This PH-DTF joined KLM in april 1973 only to leave in 1977 to fly the rest of her life for VIASA. The fact that Verkuyl used a real registration probably means that he custom made this model for a retired pilot. Anyway Verkuyl DC10's in KLM livery are very very rare. I was lucky to find this on in januari 2010 with Rene Evers in Utrecht. Rene bought this model at the Verkuyl plant in 1977 and received the model out of the hands of a "bearded man" ie. Verkuyl himself..........
